I first want to take the opportunity to thank you for your attention to this amazing program!
As owner of Life’s Ultimate Martial Arts Academy (LUMA) of Maysville KY, I have had the opportunity to serve this amazing community for the past 25 years. We work with the local schools, police departments and many different churches, businesses and organizations in the buffalo trace area. We take great pride in knowing we are making a difference in our community by helping our clients to achieve their personal goals through martial arts. Some of these goals includes: Boosting self confidence, self esteem, self control, patience, focus, integrity, respect for others and self, honesty, courage, physical activity, dedication, goal setting, and perseverance. We have taken kids from D’s and F’s to honor roll, kids with anger issues/authority problems to very polite kids (Yes Sir, No Sir), ADD/ADHD to a more relaxed state (some parents even took their kids off meds).
Communities we Serve: Mason Co, Fleming Co, Lewis Co, Bracken Co, Robertson Co, Rowan Co. and Surrounding Counties in Ohio (Ripley, Aberdeen, Manchester, Georgetown, etc). Usually within a 1 ½ hour radius of our Academy Location.
Life’s Ultimate Martial Arts Academy is a Private School of Martial Arts, where the back bone of our program is based on Life Skills! Every month we host a different Life Skills Theme (Ex.: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Courage, Anger Management, Self Care, etc.) where our monthly themes and weekly mat chats installs these life changing skills. This is what being a LUMA Student consists of, and so much more. Here at LUMA we do not limit ourselves to who we accept as students. This is why we have our scholarship program but we need your help and support to help fund for our students in this good cause. Some of our students come from less than average income families. Some Parents are on disability, (some making $500 per month), or Parents who have just fallen on hard times. However, even tho this is out of many peoples control, this sometimes ends up with the kids getting hurt, (ex. not being able to afford sports and play with their friends, gaining all the benefits Martial Arts has to offer). This is why we developed our scholarship program. The Scholarship program is based on family income. For these families and kids to be a part of something positive that could change their outlook on life. We currently have several students in the academy that is on the scholarship program, however it cost’s on an average of $1590.00 per child per year, that is in the program, but we can only do so much. This cost includes: Tuition, Uniforms, gear, testing, and two specialty events (including equipment needed to help with their training/experience here at the Academy). We currently have a waiting list of families wanting to be involved in our program for their children, but we just cannot afford to do it alone. We need your help in making a better community for the future. With violence and drugs on the rise, we can not sit back and let this consume us and our children. Example of other students we enroll (within regular and our scholarship program): Abused Kids (in all forms), Bully/Bullied, Students on the verge of criminal system, and so much more… YOU CAN HELP!
100% of All contributions go to the children/students currently in our scholarship program, or those on our waiting list. ALL contributions are transferable. What does this mean? If a student moves out of town/state, the rest of the funds go to another scholarship student. In house funds have been providing services for scholarship children this is a great and much needed service for our children and community. Any funds left at the end of the year, we use as an added supplement to our Thanksgiving and Christmas drive (Food and Toys) for families in our community these drives are for any families that are in need of assistance (not just scholarship students). This means we try to replenish our funds all throughout the year! However, this also means funds are low for much needed equipment for proper training. Here are two examples how the scholarship program works:
Example 1: If a child has been in the program for six months and the parents get back on their feet financially and are now able to afford the program, the scholarship funding will automatically go to another child on the list in need.
Example 2: If a child has been in the program for six months and the family moves/relocates, the scholarship funding will automatically go to another child on the list in need.
